French onion soup from Charade (1963)

Bonjour tout le monde!

This hitchcock-inspired film directed by Stanley Donen and starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant is a wonderful comedy mistery laced with a charming romance between the two main characters. It depicts far and between some scenes that feature food since Audrey's character seems to be quite hungry most times. The scene at the restaurant with Walter Matthau seems to portray what seemed to me at first to be creme brulee or some other fancy dessert, however the waiter says "La soup c'est pour qui?" to which Audrey replies "Pour moi", so aparently it's a soup. By the looks of it, I would almost safely say it is a typical french onion soup with slices of toasted bread and melted cheese on top. I believe that's a safe bet.

Voilá la soupe! Here's a recipe for this scrumptious and comfy delight:

Ideal for autumn and winter.

In another scene, Audrey and Cary's characters are strolling at the beginning of their cute romance and Audrey stops to ask for a chocolate and vanilla ice cream, very good for that sweet tooth.

There is a marvellous scene at a boat floating through Seine river, where Audrey is eating what appears to be a mixture of cold meats and a sweetened roti with pinneaples. After Grant's character reveals his feelings, Reggie (Audrey) reveals yet another thing, she's not hungry anymore, I guess that's because love and food are so much alike. However, here's a recipe for a roti, typical french and delicious as well:

Killer popcorn from Killer Klowns From Outer space

Back in the 80's when they so masterfully combined comedy with horror. In this particular case more like a comedy.

#Hotdogs from The Garbage pail kids movie

A bunch of mutant kids that live on a garbage can are set free by a little boy and together they learn about life, friendship, how to have fun at the movies while upsetting everyone else, making fashionable clothes and the most important lesson of them all: being disgusting can also be fluffy and sweet. A gross but at the same time enjoyable movie from the 80's.

#Potato stew from Frank

Frank is the lead singer of the band "The Soronpfbrs" and wears a giant fake head that he never takes off. His band mates respect his genious and talent, Frank looks and sounds like some sort of vessel from the divine realm and he is generous and pure at heart. The character is brilliantly played by Michael Fassbender who reveals himself to be a very competent singer. The songs are bizarre and beautiful. Inspiring and moving film. A new kind of beautiful. Made me feel things. Also, potato stew.

#White popsicles from Boy

A colourful and unique story about growing up, friendship and family. BoY lives with his grandma, his brother Rocky and a lot of cousins. His hero is Michael Jackson until of course his long-lost father returns. Boy becomes fascinated by his father's lifestyle who is some sort of gangsta and has a black car. Boy tries to act like him, begins to wear leather and eventually gets money to buy popsicles. It's an unforgettable movie that has its own style of humor and even though it's funny at times it never stops being profound. The pains and joys of growing up.
