In this movie we have a lot of nice restaurant food, including an eggplant steak, good looking black rye bread and fresh shiny fruit. The movie tells the story of Howard Prince a restaurant cashier whose life changes abruptly when he decides to be a front for some blacklists writers. It fictionalizes and satirizes the 1950 McCarthy period in America where communist writers were blacklisted and their work refused everywhere. Woody Allen gives a different performance from the usual neurotic, nervous character and it was nice to see him tone it down a bit and enjoy some black rye bread with butter.
